The gold standard in intravenous (IV) therapy consists of a normal saline (0.9%) bag containing 9 g of salt dissolved in 1000ml of water. IV therapy can administer fluids, electrolytes, vitamins, and other nutrients directly into a patient's vein for rapid absorption.
Note: The time required to administer a 1,000 mL IV bag will vary with the patient's level of hydration. In general, you can expect 30 - 60 minutes.
